S31803 Duplex Stainless Steel :
Early duplex stainless steels were resistant to moderate uniform corrosion and chlorine stress corrosion cracking, but their performance was greatly reduced when used in welded conditions. In order to improve this situation, nitrogen is added to S31803 dual-phase steel, which not only increases the corrosion resistance, but also has good welding conditions. It has high strength, good impact toughness and good overall and local stress corrosion resistance.
S31803 Duplex Stainless Steel Corrosion Resistance:
1. Uniform corrosion: Due to the chromium content (22%), molybdenum (3%) and nitrogen content (0.18%) of S31803 dual-phase steel, the corrosion resistance of S31803 is better than 316L and 317L in most environments.
2. Local corrosion resistance: The content of chromium, molybdenum and nitrogen in S31803 dual-phase steel makes it highly resistant to pitting corrosion and crevice corrosion in oxidizing and acidic solutions.
3. Stress corrosion resistance: The dual-phase microstructure of S31803 dual-phase steel helps to improve the stress corrosion cracking resistance of stainless steel. Chloride stress corrosion occurs in austenitic stainless steel in the presence of certain temperature, stress, oxygen and chloride. Since these conditions are not easily controlled, the use of 304L, 316L and 317L is limited in this regard.
4. Anti-corrosion fatigue: The high strength and anti-corrosion ability of S31803 dual-phase steel make it have high anti-corrosion fatigue strength. Processing equipment is susceptible to corrosive environments and loading cycles, and the properties of S31803 are ideal for such applications.
